SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) is a multinational corporation with a focus on managing business operations and customer relations through software.
My role as a motion graphics designer for social media was to animate for their social media platforms with a focus on Twitter. I worked as a solo designer under the supervision of Suzanne Ellis, Senior Digital Marketing Manager at SAP. Most of my projects focused on creating animated infographics of SAP's software features and how they are integrated for business and customer use. My limitations were that each graphic should be ten to fifteen seconds long in a GIF format.
The biggest challenge I faced working with SAP was trying to squeeze the information I was provided into a short ten second long animated GIF. On social media (especially Twitter), information needs to be condensed. No one would realistically want to watch a fully-detailed explanation of SAP's brand integration software in a marketing campaign. To overcome this problem, I would consult my supervisor on what information is necessary to keep for each project. I would then create a sketch of what the final infographic would look like, and then animate each section in the order of appearance. This way, viewers can digest one section at a time without feeling overwhelmed by information.
